Illegal Drug Project
You will research a specific, randomly chosen drug to answer the driving question:
How does this drug affect public health?
How does this drug affect public health?
You need to include the following information in your project:
- BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Name & describe your drug. What is the drug? What category (ex. Narcotics, hallucinogen, etc) Where is it found? Natural? Man-made?
- FACTS/STATISTICS- ex.- number of people addicted, ages, gender, etc…. (U.S.)
- SHORT & LONG TERM EFFECTS- what are they? How long do these effects last?
- SIGNS/SYMPTOMS of USE: How can you tell someone is using the drug? Mixing- what happens when mixed combined with other drugs
- ROLE: The drug’s effect on society, How addictive is it? What’s being done to combat the problem with the drug? Laws relating to the drug-penalties, fines, if caught with it, selling it
- ROAD TO RECOVERY- Treatments- What are the options? What is most effective? How/where can people get help? List of resources for the person addicted & families.
Requirements:
- All of the above information will be put into a shared google doc that you will upload into Canvas when complete..
- Citation of sources/information- 3-5 different sources each!
