Today you'll be posting a review of your book. A book review is different from a book report. A book report is a much longer work that includes an in-depth look at the plot, characters, theme, etc. A book review is much shorter and gives readers a sneak peek at what a book is about, if the reviewer enjoyed it, other books that compare, and a few interesting anecdotes. A book review does not contain spoilers. Here's a sample review of Sarah J. Maas' Throne of Glass: "In this stunning debut fantasy, a tyrannical king rules a land where magic is banished. The fate of the realm rests in the hands of Celaena Sardothien, a notorious teenage assassin. The handsome crown prince, Dorian, convinces Celaena to enter the competition his father is having to find his own personal assassin. Celaena rises to the challenge, tackling all obstacles with merciless skill. However, someone is killing the other assassins and Celaena fears she may be next. The world of Adarlan is well-developed. Celaena makes the perfect teen heroine, equally balanced in intelligence and talent, while still trying to figure out who she is. Unlike other books of the same genre, the love triangle is complex, and her choice is difficult. Prequels and sequels are promised, and I expect this story will soon have legions of fans. This book and Celaena will linger in the minds of readers long after the last page." -Sandi Jones, NBCT Library Media Specialist, Grades 7-12, Augusta (Arkansas) High School. An example of a biography book review from youngadultbookreviews.com: "This remarkable true story follows Brian Boyle’s recovery from a horrendous car accident he was in when he was eighteen. He was preparing to go to college on a swim scholarship and instead spent two months fighting for his life. He had multiple surgeries and countless hardships ahead of him, but he made the choice that he wanted to fight for his life. His parents were there to support him every step of the way as he slowly worked toward the same goals he had made prior to the accident. This story is told in Brian’s words so the writing is not very technical or complex, but his words are very powerful. Most teens will be able to relate to his feelings of helplessness as his dreams and aspirations after high school slip away. They will also be able to identify with his perseverance and will to fight when no one thought he could. The story is uplifting and heartwarming and will interest most teen readers, but especially readers who like reading about athletes. Reading this story will give teenagers a lot to think about regarding their own futures and the choices they plan to make, but also the present and how they want to live for today."
